Is this a relevant, identifiable unit?
We require a concrete facility, project, asset, fleet, production site or return event with a traceable role and source.
REE Monitor is an evidence-ranked directory of rare-earth recycling services, concrete projects and material-return signals in Europe and the United States. This page explains the public selection logic; detailed records and source history remain in the protected atlas.
We require a concrete facility, project, asset, fleet, production site or return event with a traceable role and source.
Every eligible record receives a weighted score for magnet relevance, scale, timing, access, route fit and observable market activity.
Evidence quality stays separate from commercial interest. A promising lead is never presented as confirmed material availability.
One profile represents one identifiable facility or project node. We exclude generic recyclers without a documented magnet role, research-only organisations without a usable project or service node, duplicate corporate records and announcements without an implementation milestone.
At least 10 t/y. Actual throughput, current nameplate and target values remain separately labelled; capacity or target is never presented as throughput.
Largest non-superseded, source-linked annual mass claim for magnet-bearing input or recycled rare-earth/magnet output, normalised to tonnes per year
A profile without a comparable annual quantity cannot be Priority, but may remain Monitored when the remaining score and Evidence Grade justify continued coverage.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Magnet specificity | 25 |
| Commercial accessibility and readiness | 20 |
| Input, process and output clarity | 15 |
| Quantified annual scale | 15 |
| Customer actionability | 15 |
| Updateability | 10 |
One profile represents one physical asset, fleet, production site, decommissioning project or source-defined project aggregate. A wind record is not treated as a material lot unless magnet evidence, a return trigger, responsible party and a relevant scale proxy are documented.
At least 5 t per event/year for a controlled gross material stream; at least 20 MW for a model-verified permanent-magnet wind asset; or 100% of by-products from a named magnet plant with at least 100 t/y documented production capacity.
A source-linked class-specific scale measure: controlled gross material mass, model-verified permanent-magnet wind capacity, or production-capacity exposure under a by-product agreement
Installed MW without permanent-magnet model evidence and programme announcements without a quantity do not pass. They may remain Monitored or Watchlist but cannot be Priority.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Permanent-magnet likelihood | 25 |
| Quantified material concentration | 20 |
| Return timing | 20 |
| Ownership, control and accessibility | 15 |
| Route and logistics fit | 10 |
| Observable market dynamics | 10 |
| Tier | Rule |
|---|---|
| Priority | Commercial score at least 70, Evidence Grade A or B and quantitative scale gate passed |
| Monitored | Score 55-69 with Grade A/B, or score at least 70 with Grade C |
| Watchlist | Eligible but below the monitored threshold |
| Archived | Completed, out of scope, duplicated or no longer decision-relevant |
| Grade | Meaning |
|---|---|
| A | Direct, current primary evidence for the decision-critical fields |
| B | Credible public evidence with one material limitation |
| C | Useful screening evidence requiring further verification |
| D | Known gap, conflict or evidence too weak for commercial interpretation |
Quantitative thresholds are prioritisation rules for this product, not industry standards. We review source-linked changes and preserve historical or superseded claims rather than silently rewriting them.
